Purpose
- The MOREOB (Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently Program) is a continuous
patient safety program of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
of Canada. The Program focuses on managing clinical obstetrical risk
and adverse events.
Content
- The content of the MOREOB Program is divided into modules focusing
on education, reflective learning and working together, changing the
model of care, and maintaining the change.
Length
- The MOREOB Program is implemented within a hospital setting over
a three-year cycle.
Availability
- The MOREOB Program is available throughout the province of Alberta.
All nine Alberta Health Regions have voluntarily committed to participating
in MOREOB.
- Once a hospital commits to participating in the MOREOBProgram, the
physicians, nurses, midwives, and other health professionals who are
involved in the provision of labour and birth care become involved.
- The APHP is facilitating the implementation of the MOREOB Program
in Alberta among the health regions, Alberta Health and Wellness, and
the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada.
- It is the responsibility of each health region to decide which facilities
will participate in MOREOB.
Registration
- Health regions work through the APHP to arrange participation in
MOREOB.
Costs
- Alberta Health and Wellness has provided funding for managing obstetrical
risk in Alberta, including payment of tuition for seats in the MOREOB Program.
- Health Regions are responsible for others costs incurred in implementing
the MOREOB Program.
