MOREOB (Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently) is a comprehensive, patient safety, professional development, and performance improvement program for hospital obstetrics units.

MOREOB uses a wide variety of materials and tools such as on-line clinical content, workshops, skills drills, emergency drills and audits to positively impact culture, communication, collaboration, teamwork, reflective learning and systems improvement.

The MOREOB Program in Alberta

Beginning in 2004, Alberta Hospitals have participated in the MOREOB Program. Currently there are 59 hospitals and 2330 health professionals participating in a program called MOREOB Plus. This program (previously known as Advancing with MOREOB – Self Directed) takes hospitals beyond the initial 3 year cycle of the MOREOB Program. Hospitals continue with the patient safety, professional development and performance improvement activities established through MOREOB. In addition, hospitals are encouraged to identify one or two goals on an annual basis and, using the available resources, develop an action plan to achieve and evaluate the goals.
